Coble 5th Grade Chronicles

September 3, 2010

Greetings 5th Grade Parents! What a wonderful week we have experienced in our classroom. We have all been working hard at learning experiences that will stay with us for a lifetime.

We are studying cells in science. Social studies, next week, will center on early inhabitants of North America. Bible is still focused on joy. Math will involve addition and subtraction of whole numbers. Our math chapter on decimals came to a conclusion today with an online decimals test. I must say the experience was more fun than with a pen and pencil for the students. Language is still focused on kicking off our writing workshop. We have almost completed our basic instruction. By the middle of September students will be participating in long writes.

Of utmost importance is no school Monday, September 6. The Labor Day holiday is meant to be in celebration of workers everywhere. The 5th graders work hard every day at learning so I am delighted to give them the day off work (of course, the conference actually gives all of us the day off!)

If you shop at either Office Depot or Kroger, please sign up for the rewards program to benefit Coble. We receive cash from both businesses each year which is a tremendous blessing.

The Coble Variety Show – Coble’s Got Talent – will take place Tuesday, Nov. 2. We would love for each child in the school to be involved, but it is not required.

Remember – no question is stupid. Just a way for others to let us know they need some new information.

Thank you for sharing your child with me. They bless my day.
